What to look for when buying an Electric Guitar – getting the most value for the money whether you choose to buy new or used.
Who hasn’t dreamed of playing an electric guitar in front of thousands of screaming fans? Well before you can be the next Jimi Hendrix you must first buy a quality guitar. Any electric guitar for sale belongs to one of three basic body styles: solid-body, semi-hollow, and hollow-body. The Solid Body electric guitar is a good choice when loud, sustained amplification and lots of effects is the desired sound one is looking for. The semi-hollow Body Guitar is useful when more of an acoustic sound, with high levels of amplification is required. The typical hollow-body, or Jazz Guitar you’ll find for sale provides the acoustic sound plus an electric sound when plugged into an amplifier, but these hollow-body guitars can be prone to feedback at high levels of amplification.
Your main determining factor for choosing a guitar will be how much you are willing to spend. The choices available today are limitless in styles, features, and the all important price tag. If you are new to the guitar, you’ll be surprised at just how well a “budget” or even used instruments sounds. Most “cheap” electrics are solid-body, and will carry a price of between $100 to $300 dollars.
