Where do i look to find a good small blues amp?
I am trying to nail the sound in my head with a small home/practice amp.I’m a huge blues/rock fan and love that sound of the old blues and british blues tone Eric Clapton especially. the sound i am wanting is a real warm thick bluesy sound like the OLD 50’s fender amps. And the new ones like the Blues Jr. and such to me lack to warmth and are too much tremble,thin sounding, is there a company or something i have not seen that would give me that vintage warm fat blues tone?
I have a Vox Valvetronix 30 watt combo and I really like it,all the manufacturers have modeling amps now,you should just play a few at your local guitar store.The warm,fat tone you are looking for comes from tube amps and while today’s technology comes close,there really is no substitute for the real thing.
There is a company called Victoria Amps that makes an excellent amp,Buddy Guy endorses them,but they are pricey and maybe a little bigger than you are looking for.The same goes for the Marshall JTM45 combo reissue.That is the model E.C.used when he was in John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers.Have you looked for used Bassman or Twin?I also have a Marshall JCM900 Half-Stack which isn’t practical for home use,so I sympathize with you.
